Herring is essential to the Atlantic's ecosystem. It is a vital component of the diets of many marine animals, including whales, orcas, dolphins, sharks, sea lions, cod, saithe, tuna, salmon, halibut, and several seabird species, to name a few. To put it simply, being a herring is risky. When the herring arrive at the coast to spawn, this becomes all too clear. Each year, Norway experiences a stunning event at the start of the year. First, plankton blooms take place, producing a nourishing environment brimming with food. Millions and millions of Atlantic herring are drawn to this. The herring search for the ideal location to spawn by traveling deep into our Norwegian fjords. When larger fish such as cod, saithe, tuna, halibut, and whales come looking for the herring, a phenomenal feeding frenzy unlike anything else on Earth results. Herring and its roe will be consumed by bears and even seabirds. Due to this development, the herring has become an essential and indispensable component of Arctic life.
